Eighty years ago, the world witnessed absolute horror: a systematic attempt to erase an entire people from the map. Hitler and the Nazi regime not only murdered millions of Jews, Roma, communists, and people with disabilities, but did so with an industrial logic of extermination, while much of the world remained silent—or complicit. Since then, we have repeated a sacred promise: “Never again.” Yet today, Gaza burns. And that “never again” trembles.

This is not an exaggeration. It is not an insult. It is not antisemitism. It is simply facing history with open eyes and acknowledging that past suffering can never justify present suffering. Israel was founded as a refuge for a persecuted, massacred, and scattered people. And at its core, it was meant to be a symbol of justice and dignity. But under the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, that symbol has been hijacked.

Today, Gaza is a field of death. There is no water. No food. No hospitals. There is rubble. There are children buried under ruins. There is hunger used as a weapon. There is terror from the sky. And yes… all of this demands that we remember. How can we not recall the memory of the ghettos? How can we not think of the trains, the deportations, the logic of “they are not human”? When a government decides that an entire people is the enemy and applies collective punishment, that is not defense.

That is systematized cruelty. And yes, history has seen it before. This is not a message against the Jewish people. It is a message from Jewish history, for the present of Israel. It is a mirror: if you were once victims of absolute horror, you now have the moral duty never to reproduce it.

This is not hate. It is awareness. It is not provocation. It is memory. Today, Gaza needs more than humanitarian aid—it needs the world to stop looking away. It needs us to remember, truly, what “Never again” was meant to mean. Because if we don’t, if we stay silent, if we justify… then we have learned nothing.
