Mikaela Shiffrin reaffirmed her status as the undisputed queen of slalom at the start of this Olympic winter season, delivering a dominant performance on home snow in Copper Mountain. The American star controlled the race from the opening run and once again separated herself clearly from the field, securing her third victory in as many races and earning the 104th World Cup win of her extraordinary career.
Germany’s Lena Dürr finished second, trailing by 1.57 seconds, while rising talent Lara Colturi, competing for Albania, impressed once more by claiming the third spot on the podium. The Austrian team delivered solid results but missed the podium, with Katharina Liensberger dropping to sixth after being third midway through the competition, followed by Katharina Truppe in seventh place. Katharina Gallhuber and Katharina Huber also performed well, both finishing inside the top fifteen.
Shiffrin, visibly fatigued by the high-altitude effort at more than 3,000 meters above sea level, described the race as “really challenging” and said she was looking forward to a quiet evening at home with a warm tea, a simple dinner, and plenty of rest.
Her return to the technical disciplines continues to pay off, and she noted that her second run felt especially smooth, allowing her to ski with confidence and precision. With this latest victory, Shiffrin extends her remarkable winning streak and cements her position as the standout athlete to watch as the Olympic season unfolds.
