Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced a leadership reorganization aimed at strengthening the company’s focus on the artificial intelligence business. Under the new structure, former head of sales Judson Althoff will take on an expanded role as leader of the commercial business, heading an organization that will unify sales, marketing, and operations.
Althoff will also lead a new commercial management team, comprised of executives from the technical, commercial, marketing, operations, and finance departments, with the mission of coordinating efforts and accelerating Microsoft’s overall AI strategy. In a blog post published on Wednesday, Nadella explained that the realignment is designed to free up time and responsibility for both himself and other senior engineers to concentrate on the company’s most complex technical challenges, ranging from the expansion of data centers and system architecture to artificial intelligence research and product innovation, all aimed at reinforcing Microsoft’s leadership in a highly competitive market.
Nadella emphasized that the tech world is at a crucial turning point: “We are in the midst of a fundamental shift in AI platforms,” he said, highlighting Microsoft’s commitment to leading this global transformation.
